Maurice likes four, eyeing winter decision

Isaiah Maurice enjoyed plenty of exposure this past spring and summer with Team Loaded, a squad that lived up to its name and featured several high-majors, including elite junior guard Dennis Smith.

When Isaiah Maurice committed to Old Dominion last fall, it appeared the Monarchs had lassoed a key building block from the Class of 2015. But Maurice later reopened his recruitment, and the 6-9 forward hit the road with Team Loaded on the Adidas circuit with a fresh recruitment.

He performed solidly for a strong Loaded team that finished 13-3 in the Adidas regular season. The Durham (N.C.) Bull City Prep product averaged nine points and eight rebounds per game, shooting a highly impressive 65 percent from the field.

Maurice will need to gain weight and become more polished offensively, but he continued to impress coaches and scouts as the summer turned to fall. His ability to run the floor and overall fluidity are impressive for a 6-9 big man.

He's also prepared for a big senior year and played in a series of scrimmages this past weekend with Bull City in preparation for his final prep campaign.

At this juncture he has his eyes on a school to the Northeast for college.

"I like La Salle a lot, they are my favorite right now," Maurice said. "They haven't offered me, but it looks like it's heading in that direction."

The Explorers are a relative newcomer to the recruitment but have made deep inroads quickly.

"They're just a really good program and in the A-10, which is a pretty strong conference," Maurice said.

That said, La Salle has company on Maurice's list of favorites.

"My other schools are Temple, Marshall and Ohio," he said. "I'm looking to make a decision sometime around the end of the year."
