Well, Legend Robertin — who hails from England — hasn't been playing basketball for long, but according to multiple reports, the 7-0 center/centre will play his college ball at Clemson. Indiana, Florida State, Pittsburgh, Memphis and others also had expressed interest.
Robertin naturally projects as a developmental big man given his lack of experience in the game, but the Tigers have needed to ink big men and recently missed on Derrik Smits to Valparaiso. With the relative paucity of uncommitted players throughout the country, looking to the juco ranks — and especially at loaded Chipola (Fla.) JC — made sense.
The fact that he'll have three seasons of eligibility at Clemson added to his value as well. Robertin actually was a 2014 high school prospect who competed at Believe Prep (S.C.) last season before enrolling at Chipola mid-year and redshirting.
Clemson's frontcourt generally lacks experience and carries an international flavor, so from that standpoint Robertin certainly should fit in well. The Tigers have been defense-dominant during the Brad Brownell era and are attempting to become more balanced, and ideally over time their new center will be able to give the club's offense a lift.
