Roach commits to Texas

Texas adds another quality guard to their 2015 recruiting class. Kerwin Roach made it official on Friday.

Texas landed a key commitment on Friday.

Kerwin Roach, a 6-foot-4 combination guard out of Houston (Tex.) North Shore, picked the Longhorns over California and Wichita State. Roach took official visits to all three schools. Roach took his trip to Texas this past weekend.

This is a significant pick up for Rick Barnes and his staff. Playing for the Houston Rockstarz, Roach was one of the breakout performers of this past July and played his way into’s top 100.

At this size, Roach impresses with his versatility at the guard position. His ability to shoot from three is one of his biggest attributes, but he is also skilled and is a quality passer with impressive vision.

Roach is regarded as the No. 26 shooting guard and the No. 82 overall recruit in the 2015 recruiting class. As a junior, Roach averaged 16.1 points and 5.3 rebounds a game.

Texas now has a pair of four-star guards in their 2015 class. Roach joins Saginaw (Mich.) Arthur Hill standout Eric Davis, who is known for his scoring prowess, to make up their current recruiting class.
