Schools checking in on Norvell

Four-star guard Zach Norvell continues to be seen by numerous colleges.

Four-star shooting guard Zach Norvell out of Chicago (Ill.) Simeon is one of the better scorers in the class of 2016. Over the weekend at the NY2LA Futures Camp Norvell impressed, and now he is ready for a big junior season.

Traditionally Simeon is one of the top teams in the country, and yet again this year they feature a loaded roster. Now as a junior and one of the leaders, Norvell is working hard to have a big season.

“I am expecting to go in and have a great junior season and help my team get as many wins as I can,” said Norvell. “Hopefully everything goes well and we win both the city and state championship.”

He continued, “Basically I am working more on my IQ and getting others involved, also I have been working on my isolation moves and stuff like that.”

Recruiting wise a lot of schools have been in to check on the 6-foot-4 shooter with deep range.

Illinois, Iowa State, Oklahoma, Bradley, St. Louis, Creighton, Xavier, New Mexico, New Mexico State, and Oregon have been in to see me this year,” said Norvell.

In terms of visits, so far Norvell is taking things slowly.

“I have been down to Bradley and also to Loyola for visits, but as of right now I have no other visits set up,” noted Norvell. “I am focused on the season.”

While Norvell is taking the visit process slowly, he does know what he will be looking for in a school when the time does come to make a decision.

“I am looking for a family environment where I can feel at home,” said Norvell. “I feel I can fit in with any style of play so that doesn’t matter too much. What is more important is going somewhere that will help me grow as a player and as a man.”

Currently Norvell is ranked as the No. 17 shooting guard and the No. 85 player overall in the 2016 class.
