Walker makes his call

Purdue was in need of a point guard in the 2016 class and the Boilers snagged three-star floor leader C.J. Walker.

Matt Painter and his staff were quick to identify C.J. Walker as someone they wanted in the 2016 class this fall. On the first day they could the Boilermakers came in to view the Indianapolis (Ind.) Arsenal Tech product and issued an offer. Now he has repaid Purdue with a commitment.

"Just want to thank friends, family, coaches but I've decided to commit to Purdue University," Walker announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The 5-foot-11 point guard was the floor general of the state champions last year, and he has worked hard to improve his athleticism and quickness for this year. A tough kid who makes shots, Walker is the type of kid who coaches like to describe as a winner.

Along with Purdue, Walker entertained offers from Butler and Cincinnati, but in the end it was the persistence and appeal of Purdue that led to the commitment.

This is the first pledge for Purdue in the 2016 class.
