Dozier goes with Gamecocks
The biggest decision on Signing Day came from Scout.com’s No. 33 ranked prospect – Perry Dozier. Dozier, a standout at Columbia (S.C.) Spring Valley, opted to stay local and picked South Carolina over scholarship offers from Louisville, Georgetown, North Carolina and Michigan. Why did he opt for the Gamecocks? Upward Stars coach Curt Wheeler said proximity was the deciding factor. “Opportunity to stay home and help change the culture of the program like the top football players from South Carolina did,” Wheeler said when asked about the decision. “Coach Martin and the athletic department have a plan in place to help the basketball program move forward. P.J. would be the face of the program. Coach Evans has done a great job recruiting P.J. & building a relationship with him.” With the addition of Dozier, South Carolina now has a pair of recruits in the 2015 class. Dozier joins three-star forward Chris Silva to make up their current class.
