Mack picks VCU

Tevin Mack made his college choice on the second of initial signing period.

Throughout the week Tevin Mack seemed torn between VCU and Connecticut.

On Thursday at a press conference at Columbia (S.C.) Dreher, Mack, a 6-foot-6 wing, opted for Shaka Smart and the VCU Rams.

Mack's finalists also consisted of Connecticut, Clemson, South Carolina and Georgia.

VCU assistant Mike Morrell was the point man for the Rams on the Mack recruitment.

Mack has a reputation as a high-level scorer. He obviously has good size for the perimeter, but he's a good long-range threat and a player that can create his own shot opportunities off the dribble.

Mack is regarded as the No. 13 small forward and the No. 69 overall prospect in the 2015 recruiting class.

Shaka Smart now has a pair of four-star recruits in his 2015 recruiting class. Mack joins Scout.com's No. 33 shooting guard Kenny Williams to make up their current recruiting class.
