2017 Intro: Trace Young
Buzz in the state of Kentucky has been building around 2017 forward Trace Young. A sophomore at Hartford (Ky.) Ohio County, Young displayed his talent and ability at a recent Hoop Dreams workout in Lexington (Ky.). At 6-foot-7, Young has good size for the wing position, displayed good athleticism and has some impressive tools for a young prospect. “I’m more of a slasher that can step out and shoot,” Young said when asked to describe his game. “I work on my mismatches. I’m taller for my position. If I’m taller I’ll post them up. If I’m smaller I’ll just go around them.” While it’s clearly early in the process for Young, he already claims scholarship offers from West Virginia, Samford, Morehead State and Wright State. He also has interest from Virginia Tech, Purdue, Western Kentucky, Alabama, Louisville and Vanderbilt. Young said he has taken an unofficial visit to Alabama. “It was nice,” he said of the visit. “It was on a gameday too so it was crazy. It was nice. I got to talk to them.” Young said next on his visit list is Louisville. He doesn’t have a date set up for the unofficial visit yet. “I’m just enjoying [the process] right now,” Young said about his recruitment. “It’s great.”
