2017 Intro: Jade' Smith

NEWARK, Calif. - The Prep2Prep Tip-Off Classic featured several of the top prospects in the Bay Area, with Jade' Smith using the event to catapult his stock in 2017.

The West Coast is quickly building some quality depth at point guard in 2017 and one of the better prospects at the position is 6-foot-2, 160-pound Alameda (Calif.) St. Joseph-Notre Dame’s Jade’ Smith.

A long point guard with good size at 6-foot-2, Smith is a very good passer who can also create his own shot and score from all three levels. He’s a talented kid with a very high upside.

“I think I facilitate well, I get to the basket, my midrange game is pretty good and I’m working on my pull-up from three,” Smith said. “When some players see that I can drive they’ll play off me so I need to get more comfortable from three.”

Smith has heard from Notre Dame and Colorado so far, and grew up a fan of a school in the region.

“I grew up a fan of Oregon,” he said. “My family is from there.”

While Smith’s recruitment is just starting, he has an idea of something that will be important to him when he goes through the process.

“I want to stay close,” Smith said. “I don’t want to go really far. I want to go somewhere where I can learn business.”
