Sneed ready for big season
Three-star class of 2016 wing Xavier Sneed is ready for a big junior season. Sneed just completed a strong year on the football field, but now the Florissant (Mo.) Hazelwood Central wing is ready to get on the basketball court and make an impression. At 6-foot-5 with a lot of athleticism and versatility, Sneed is someone who has big expectations for himself this season. “I expect big numbers out of myself,” said Sneed. “Coach says he is putting the team on my back, so I have to step up for the team and be a leader.” He continued, “I have improved my ball handling and my shooting a lot, and I think everybody will see that this season.” Recruiting wise numerous schools are showing Sneed significant interest. “I have offers from Kansas State, Missouri, Saint Louis, Cincinnati, and Xavier,” noted Sneed. “Also teams that are interested are Illinois, Oklahoma, Tulsa, Drake, and Wichita State.” Being a native of Missouri, Sneed says that it was a big deal to get an offer from the in-state Tigers. “It was pretty big to get an offer from them,” said Sneed. “It meant I have something going on, and they are definitely a school I am considering.” Also Xavier is a program he has paid attention to throughout his life, and says it was good to get an offer from them. “I have always seen Xavier in the Sweet 16 and stuff and kept an eye on them,” explained Sneed. “With my being Xavier and everything it is a team I have always kept an eye on and I know they have a great academic program along with basketball.” At the moment Sneed is in absolutely no hurry to make a college decision, but does now what he will be looking for in a school. “I am definitely going to pay attention to academics and also to development,” noted Sneed. “My goal is to play in the NBA and I want to go somewhere that can develop me to get there.” Currently Sneed is considered the No. 22 small forward in the class of 2016.
