Scruggs continues to shine

Paul Scruggs is off to a good start to his sophomore season.

As one of the top sophomores in the country it is no surprise that Indianapolis (Ind.) Southport Paul Scruggs off to a great start to his season, and colleges continue to take notice.

At around 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds with big time athleticism and one of the best motors you will see on a basketball court, Scruggs continues to make waves with his play. He has been tremendous so far and he says he is continuing to refine his game.

“I am working on my shot a lot right now, and also on my post moves,” said Scruggs. “I feel my game is coming along pretty well, but I know I have a lot of room to improve.”

Recruiting wise schools such as Indiana, Purdue, Xavier, and Kansas have offered Scruggs. Also Michigan, Michigan State, Butler, Illinois, and others continue to show him significant attention.

Recently Scruggs made an unofficial down to Indiana and he came away very impressed with the Hoosiers.

“I went down to IU and it was wild,” said Scruggs. “I have been down there a lot, and I am getting comfortable with the coaches and I like them a lot. I think they have a good program.”

While Scruggs has yet to see Kansas, he does have an offer, and thinks highly of the program.

“It was a blessing to get an offer from Kansas,” said Scruggs. “I didn’t know until my AAU coach told me and I was just speechless. It was amazing to get an offer from them.”

A school that Scruggs has seen and also likes is Xavier.

“They have been talking to me and my coach and I like how they play with a fast tempo, and I think I could fit in there,” noted Scruggs.

Michigan won’t offer Scruggs until potentially June 15, and even without an offer it is a school he thinks highly of.

“I like Michigan,” explained Scruggs. “I just like them period. It is right up the road and they have put a lot of players in the league.”

Currently Scruggs is viewed as the No. 3 shooting guard and the No. 23 player overall in the 2017 class.
