Roundtable: Unsigned and overlooked?

Each week, we ask the hoops recruiting team to ruminate on a specific question.

As we head into the heart of the holiday basketball season, take a second to reflect on those unsigned seniors. Who's one player in the class who you believe is getting surprisingly under-recruited?

Evan Daniels: I still feel like Traci Carter, who is ranked in Scout's 2015 top 100, is getting a tad under recruited. I know Louisville has shown interest, as have Providence, Memphis, St. John's, but with the lack of lead guards in the class I'm surprised more schools haven't jumped in with him.

I think he's nearing 100-percent and is as good of an option out there at that specific position.

Brian Snow: I guess I would say Terrence Phillips (pictured above) is that guy. It isn't that I think Phillips should be recruited by Duke or Kentucky, but it seems that his recruiting is going extremely slow. Phillips has played on a high profile AAU team, a high profile high school team, plays a premium position, and is someone who is a good teammate.

By all accounts Phillips has stayed out of trouble and is a well liked kid off the court, so it is just surprising that a kid with ability who seems to have things together off the court isn't getting more recruiting attention.

Rob Harrington: I hate to be redundant, but Phillips was the person I had in mind as well. I watched him play fairly well to open the season last month, and while I agree with Brian that he doesn’t project for the highest level, he’s a pretty safe bet on and off the court.

He has competed against the toughest competition from an early age, always has accepted challenges, can adapt to varying roles and kept his head up this past summer when he wasn’t playing as much for his travel squad. I think he’ll end up a very nice pickup for someone.
