2016 Intro: Damien Jefferson

It has been a big junior season for East Chicago (Ind.) Central native Damien Jefferson.

One of the players with a lot of upside in the class of 2016 in the state of Indiana is Damien Jefferson. Now a junior, Jefferson is having an outstanding season, and is beginning to put himself firmly on the high-major radar.

At around 6-foot-4 with high level athleticism and very long arms, Jefferson has always been an intriguing prospect, but now his skill level is improving, and that is leading to big numbers from Jefferson.

“I am working on my ball handling and shooting,” said Jefferson. “I think I am getting better, but I know it isn’t where it needs to be.”

With his improvement and the play of senior teammate Hyron Edwards, East Chicago Central has been one of the top teams in the state, and Jefferson says things are going well.

“We are doing well as a team,” said Jefferson. “Individually I think I am getting better.”

Recruiting wise things are still early for Jefferson, but he says a few schools are showing him significant interest.

Xavier, Indiana, Tennessee, California, and a few other schools,” said Jefferson.

At the moment Jefferson says he is in no hurry to make any kind of decision on his college future.

“I’m just weighing my options and I am in no hurry right now,” said Jefferson.
