Prospects Pick New High Schools

School has either begun or will begin for most schools, prep academies included, by September 10. With that said, a number of prospective student-athletes are moving around. Here's an update on Keith Butler, Cortez Davis and a few more.

  • Apparently, center Keith Butler, will not be enrolling at The Winchendon School. However, details are presently being worked on that would send him to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. The head coach at IMG is Tony Tucker, a former University of Delaware player and former head coach at Mercersburg Academy.

IMG's website, doesn't list any players attending the school and Butler was not sure who else was going to be on the team. We hope to have more on IMG and its roster in the near future. If the name sounds familiar, IMG is home to the world famous Nick Bolletieri Tennis School where many of the world's best tennis players have trained.

Meanwhile, Butler says North Carolina, Illinois, Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Miami and Louisville are on his list with UNC and Illinois, in his words, leading. Until Butler gets to school which will be Sept. 9 if all goes as planned, it's tough to tell which schools will actually make a visit or where they stand with offers.

  • Laurinburg Prep in Laurinburg, N.C., apparently is the destination for one-time Maryland commitment Cortez Davis. Davis had been linked with Bridgton Academy and Hargrave, but is ticketed for Laurinburg where former Newport School coach Chris Chaney will be the coach of the prep team.
  • Joining Davis at Laurinburg, is 6-2 guard Mike Land, a member of Leesville Road's North Carolina state runner-up team last year.
