Rouse Looking Around

Corey Rouse, a 6-7 swingman, turned some heads at the AAU Nationals with his play for the Wilson Kings. The Kinston (NC) High product is receiving attention from a number of programs and will host a few schools in September.

Rouse Lining Up In-Homes

Kinston, N.C., isn't exactly Houston, Memphis or New York in terms of basketball prowess, but it is home to former UNC standout Jerry Stackhouse. In fact, 6-7 SF Corey Rouse attends the same high school Stackhouse used to attend.

Rouse was an honorable mention all-stater as a junior when he averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. He plans on taking all five of his official visit. He's already taken the SAT and needs a little boost, but he should be all square the next time around.

Currently, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Virginia, East Carolina, South Florida, McNeese State, Boston College and College of Charleston are recruiting him. He plans on going to East Carolina this coming weekend for an unofficial visit and will watch a Maryland football game sometime this month.

Rouse says there isn't a leader. "Not yet. I think they are all together so far. The education factor and can I come in and play soon are big. I'll have to like the coaches and the surrounding people."

The swingman says he stays in contact with Stackhouse. "He tells me to work hard and keep getting better."
