Swanigan planning some visits
Five-star center Caleb Swanigan is one of the truly elite players left uncommitted in the 2015 class. The Ft. Wayne (Ind.) Homestead standout continues to have a very strong senior season, and now he is in the stages of planning more visits to potential colleges. Homestead got a big win over Columbus (Ohio) Northland at the Flyin to the Hoop event, and Swanigan was happy with the effort and his senior season in general. “The season is going pretty well,” said Swanigan. “We got a big win over an out of state team. They played well, but I think we came out and played hard and got a good win.” Recruiting wise schools such as Arizona, Duke, California, Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan State, Purdue, and others remain in the mix. Recently Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski visited Swanigan, and he said he is building a good relationship with the Hall of Famer. “I’m building a very good relationship with Coach K,” said Swanigan of Duke. “They are showing me a lot of love. They are saying how I am a guy they really want right now and that I would fit in well.” Also recently Swanigan took visits to Big Ten rivals Purdue and Michigan State. About Purdue, Swanigan said, “I saw Purdue play and it was nice. I have been to Mackey Arena a couple of times, and saw some good games.” He continued about Michigan State, “I went to Michigan State, it was a blowout against Indiana. Things continue to be pretty good with Michigan State.” One visit that was planned but hasn’t taken place yet is California. That trip was postponed and while the visit will still happen, he isn’t sure of when yet. When it comes to visits in general, Swanigan said, “Before the end of the year I plan to go to Duke and Louisville. I am going to see North Carolina at Louisville and I will see Clemson at Duke. Also I know I will see another Michigan State game, and I will see a Cal game as well.” The Louisville trip is new, and Swanigan says things are again picking up with the Cardinals. “They’ve jumped in recently,” said Swanigan of Louisville. “Coach (Kenny) Johnson is from Indiana, and they have started to come back into the mix so I want to check things out.” Currently there is no firm timeframe for a commitment from Swanigan.
