Major interest in Watson

One player looking to emerge in Ohio's loaded 2016 class is Ibi Watson.

The state of Ohio is loaded with quality wings in the class of 2016, and one of them is Pickerington (Ohio) Central product Ibi Watson. Watson is having a very good junior season, and the recruiting interest continues to come his way.

“So far we have been up and down a little bit,” said Watson. “We have lost on three or four buzzer beaters already, but I think we are ready to take off now.”

At 6-foot-4 and about 175 pounds with long arms and solid athleticism, Watson has major upside, and he feels that he is making the necessary improvements to his game.

“I’ve been working on my athleticism and my defense mainly, but also my shot,” said Watson. “I have been making sure to get in the gym every day and get at least 300 shots up. That is a big thing for me.”

Recruiting wise numerous schools are showing him major interest.

“I’ve been hearing from Miami, Michigan, Dayton, West Virginia, Iowa, Xavier, all of the MAC, and Duquesne,” said Watson.

He continued, “I have been on a visit to Dayton and I am planning to go to Iowa and Michigan soon.”

Dayton has offered Watson a scholarship, and he likes the Flyers situation a lot.

“I just like how supportive the whole community is, they love basketball,” said Watson. “I also love the coaching staff and the culture of Dayton basketball.”

When it comes to Iowa, Watson said, “They have been talking a lot about how they like my game and how they want to get me down on a visit. They my skills and want me to keep being aggressive and staying strong.”

Michigan is a school that Watson has followed for a while and went to their camp after his freshman season, and now he says the Wolverines are continuing to ramp up the interest.

“I think they have a medium interest,” said Watson of Michigan. “We talk on and off every other week, and I just really like their program.”

At this point Watson said there is no timeframe for a decision.
