Cumberland talks recruiting
Four-star wing Jarron Cumberland put on a scoring display in front of a host of college coaches over the weekend at Flyin to the Hoop. The highly thought of Wilmington (Ohio) product continues to pull in offers and has numerous schools monitoring him closely. At 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, Cumberland is a very strong wing who can get to the rim with his strength or make shots from deep. Now he is says he is working to be complete as a player. “I have been working on my ball handling more, my defense, and my pull up jumper,” said Cumberland. Recruiting wise, numerous schools have been in the mix for a while, with more and more serious attention coming his way. “Purdue, Butler, Cincinnati, Xavier, Iowa, Iowa State are the main schools recruiting me right now,” said Cumberland. About visits, Cumberland said, “I have been to Purdue, Butler, and Cincinnati and I should take a visit to Xavier at some point this year.” When it comes to Butler, the Bulldogs recently dispatched Head Coach Chris Holtmann to see him, and Cumberland likes the program. “They really like me and think I am a great fit for their program,” said Cumberland. “They think I could be a big time scorer for them.” About Cincinnati, Cumberland said, “I fit in well at Cincinnati. I would get good shots and they have point guards who could get me open.” Xavier Head Coach Chris Mack offered Cumberland over the weekend, and he likes the Musketeers system. “They use a lot of screens and with my strength they think I would be good off of screens and fit in well in their offense,” he explained of Xavier. For now Cumberland has no plans to make an early decision and is gaining as much information as he can about each of the programs recruiting him.
