Popoola, Jr. holds three offers

Christian Popoola, Jr. is a rapidly improving 2017 guard from Utah who already holds three scholarship offers.

One of the West Coast's most productive 2017 guards comes from Highland (Utah) Lone Peak in Christian Popoola, Jr.

A committed defender who can guard both the one and two, Popoola is also an aggressive slasher and scorer who always plays hard.

Popoola made the move from Las Vegas before the season and he feels it's been successful for him.

"Utah is great," Popoola said. "There are great people and coaches here. I love my coaches and teammates."

Over the last year, Popoola has made big strides in his game and he's working to take things to the next level.

"I'm shooting the ball pretty well," he said. "I'm working on getting a lot more aggressive. I'm working on my game at the one and two because I think as I get older I might be a combo.

"I'm slashing really well. My right hand has improved a whole lot and I'm learning how to run a team. I'm getting better at getting my teammates involved and getting them open shots."

New Mexico, Princeton and UNLV have already offered Popoola, with interest coming from Arizona, Boston College, Connecticut, Harvard, Kentucky, Oklahoma, San Diego State, Stanford, Texas, UCLA, Utah and Vanderbilt.

Despite the early attention, Popoola is more worried about improving as a player than his recruitment.

"It's pretty early," he said. "I'm just trying to play basketball, get better and see where my game takes me."
