USA Basketball's Hoop Summit Team Is Ready

USA Basketball announced their Men’s Junior National Select Team, which will compete in the Nike Hoop Summit, on Monday.

Scout’s No. 1 player Jaylen Brown headlines the USA team that also includes top 10 prospects Ivan Rabb, Henry Ellenson, Stephen Zimmerman, Caleb Swanigan and Chase Jeter.

Malik Newman, a five-star prospect, is also on the roster. Newman led the USA Basketball U17’s team to a Gold Medal in the World Championships this past August. Newman averaged 14.9 points a game.

All 11 players selected to compete on the Men’s Junior National team won gold medals with USA Basketball in 2014. Newman, Ellenson, Rabb and Swanigan competed on the U17 team, while the other seven won the FIBA Americas U18 Championship.

Six of the 11 participants have already signed Letter of Intents – Isaiah Briscoe (Kentucky), Jalen Brunson (Villanova), Henry Ellenson (Marquette), Chase Jeter (Duke), Luke Kennard (Duke) and Allonzo Trier (Arizona).

Eric Flannery, who coaches Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward, and KC Run GMC director L.J. Goolsby will coach the Junior National Team.

The World Select Team, which will be announced in March, will consist of 11 elite international players 19 years of age and younger.

The Nike Hoop Summit will be played at the Moda Center in Portland (Ore.) on Saturday, April 11th. The game will tip at 3:00 ET.
