Giovanni St. Amant, 6-2 SR SG, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco, is getting some very good interest from schools across the country.

St. Amant has been offered by UC Santa Barbara, Pepperdine, SMU and San Diego.

In addition to those, he's hearing from Connecticut, Portland, and Virginia.

"Right now I think my favorite is Pepperdine," St. Amant said. "I like Santa Barbara and Connecticut, too, though."

As of now, St. Amant has an in-home visits arranged with Santa Barbara Sept 15th. He's in the process of scheduling other in-home visits with his other favorites.

Is it significant that he likes the beach schools like Pepperdine and Santa Barbara? "I like the coast," he said. "I live in Long Beach, so I'm comfortable with the coast. I would prefer to stay close to home."

St. Amant said he's not looking for immediate playing time, but just an opportunity. "To me, I feel if I come in I'd have to deserve a spot. If I work hard, no matter where I end up it's what I deserve."

St. Amant also said he'll more than likely wait until spring to sign. "I want to take my time to take my official trips. I want to wait, and not make the wrong decision. There are a lot of options to weigh, and I want to make a decision I'll be happy with it."

St. Amant said he's carrying a 3.0 GPA and scored a 900 on the SAT.
