Maker on track to graduate

Thon Maker, an elite prospect in high school basketball, made news on Wednesday when he tweeted he was on track to graduate this year.

Thon Maker, a five-star standout at Orangeville (Canada) Prep, made it official.

Early Wednesday morning, Maker tweeted that he was "on track to graduate this year," which confirms the speculation that he would reclassify from the 2016 class to 2015.

The idea of Maker reclassifying surfaced in late May at an adidas Gauntlet event in Orlando, where Ed Smith, who is Maker's guardian, informed Scout that reclassification would be a possibility if he gained the appropriate weight.

Over the course of the season, the reclassification talk has been among the biggest stories in high school basketball.

Now the attention turns to college or the possibility of playing professional basketball, which has also been discussed. If he opts for the college route, Kansas, Kentucky and a few others will likely be options.

Maker was ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect and the No. 1 center in the 2016 class. Maker will be slotted as the No. 6 recruit in the 2015 class.
