2017 Intro: Malik Williams

Malik Williams is a 2017 prospect with a ton of upside.

Because he plays on more of an under the radar AAU team and due to his age, Malik Williams is not someone who is known too much on the national radar. Still at 6-foot-10 with high level athleticism, and long arms, colleges are clearly taking notice.

Williams and his Ft. Wayne (Ind.) Snider teammates got a huge win over the weekend against Homestead High School who features five-star center Caleb Swanigan. For Williams it was big to prove himself on a big stage.

“It felt good to go against Caleb,” explained Williams. “I blocked a few shots, and overall I just think I did what I had to do to help my team get a win.”

Williams says the solid showing against Swanigan was a product of hard work.

“I feel my game is coming along well,” he explained. “I have been working on rebounding, getting stronger, and finishing around the basket. I have just been working on a lot.”

Already Williams has a scholarship offer from Indiana, and he says programs such as Vanderbilt, Butler, Xavier, Kentucky, and Purdue are also staying in contact with him.

When it comes to the Hoosiers, Williams said, “I like the coaching staff and the game atmosphere. Also I think the way that they play fits with me game. It is great to have an offer from them.”

Williams has already been to Indiana several times for unofficial visits, and he says he will check out a different school over the weekend.

“I am going down to Kentucky next Saturday,” said Williams. “I’m just hoping to see a great atmosphere and looking forward to meeting with the coaching staff.”

With a world of potential, Williams is in no hurry with his recruitment and says he is focused on getting better and continuing to refine his game.
