Williams picks Iowa

A talented and athletic big guard from Illinois will make his way to Iowa.

The Iowa Hawkeyes keep looking to add depth and talent on the perimeter, and they did just that on Monday. A day after earning a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament, Fran McCaffery and his staff made a big recruiting decision and it led to a commitment.

"Christian Williams has committed to the University of Iowa," said Williams' AAU coach with the Illinois Irish Gavin Sullivan.

The 6-foot-6 Williams is a very versatile player who can play all over the perimeter. He handles the ball well, is a good slasher, and has improved as a shooter. Add in that he is a solid athlete, and the potential is clearly there with him.

In the end Sullivan says that Williams really liked the style of play and felt he fit in well with what Iowa likes to do.

"Iowa has been on him for a long time," explained Sullivan. "Christian fell in love with the staff, the school, and the style of play from the first time he visited."

Sullivan continued, "The offer came this morning and he committed. Being a big guard with ball skills he felt he could fit perfectly into Iowa's system."

This is the fifth commitment for the Hawkeyes in a big 2015 class.
