Roberts talks season, visits

It was an impressive sophomore season for Justin Roberts who is now focused on having a great spring on the AAU circuit.

Point guard Justin Roberts is one of the best in the Midwest in the class of 2017. The Indianapolis (Ind.) Pike standout just completed his sophomore season, and it was a productive one for him.

“I think the season went pretty well,” said Roberts. “It could have gone better for sure. We had some ups and downs as a team losing some games we probably shouldn’t have lost, but we stuck together and played as a team.”

He continued, “My game I think came along well from last year to this year. I averaged 13 points a game this year and four assists. Last year I didn’t average close to those numbers, and I rebounded much better this year, so I think my game improved overall.”

Recruiting wise Roberts is hearing from numerous schools, and made a few visits during the year.

“I saw Ohio State, Kentucky, and Xavier,” noted Roberts. “Also I was supposed to go to Michigan but I wasn’t able to go.”

About Ohio State, Roberts said, “The trip to Ohio State was great. It was a conference game against Indiana, and it was a close game so it was real good. Every time I go there the atmosphere is great. Getting to see D’Angelo Russell score 22 points at will was impressive.”

Roberts visited Xavier on New Year’s Eve, and enjoyed the game against Georgetown.

Even though Roberts didn’t make up to Michigan for a game, it is still a school he is very intrigued and familiar with.

“I’ve been up there for a football game,” explained Roberts. “I have seen a little bit of it from the football side. I like Michigan, they have a good coaching staff, and they develop players. They didn’t have a great year this year, but I like the school and the academics are great there.”

For now Roberts is in no hurry to make his college decision, and is focused on having an excellent spring on the AAU circuit.
