Hicks no longer committed
Rick Ray thought he had a key piece to his future committed in the class of 2016 when in-state product Darius Hicks picked the Bulldogs. The 6-foot-7 small forward from Quitman (MS) decided to re-open his recruitment on Monday night. Hicks announced on Twitter his decision to de-commit by saying "I have decided to reopen my recruitment due to the coaching change." For his part Hicks is a very athletic and long athlete who should have a ton of upside going forward as he continues to get bigger and stronger. Along with Mississippi State, Hicks had reeled in early offers from Alabama, Florida State, Southern Miss, and Middle Tennessee State before issuing his commitment. Now Hicks will be back on the open market and is expected to get significant interest with his combination of size and athleticism. Hicks also becomes the second member of the class to de-commit, D'Marcus Simonds did the same upon news of Ray's dismissal by the university on Saturday.
