Gregory commits to South Carolina

Jamall Gregory has settled on his college decision.

Gregory informed Scout on Wednesday that he verbally committed to Frank Martin and South Carolina.

“When I went down on the visit I liked it,” he said. “I liked the campus and everybody was real nice. Coach Frank seems like a real good guy and he has the best interest in me. He wants me to be successful and I feel like he will push me to get better. It’s a good fit for me.”

Gregory picked South Carolina over Kansas State. Gregory said his relationship with Martin was a big factor in his decision.

“I talked to almost everybody,” he said. “I’m very comfortable around him. We talk about pretty much anything, not only basketball. He’s just a good guy.”

Gregory, an athletic 6-foot-4 guard, said his system is a good fit for his style of play.

“I think I’ll fit in well,” he said. “He likes to cause trouble and press up and run. He said they didn’t get enough easy bucket. I see myself coming and get some steals and start the fast break.”

South Carolina now has a trio of prospects in their 2015 class. Gregory joins Scout’s No. 43 prospect Perry Dozier and three-star big man Chris Silva to make up their current class.
