Swanigan picks Michigan State

Michigan State struck big on Friday, reeling in five-star recruit Caleb Swanigan.

Caleb Swanigan, a five-star center out of Ft Wayne (Ind.) Homestead Senior, offered up a pledge to Tom Izzo and his staff on Friday.

Swanigan picked the Spartans over serious interest from Duke, California, Kentucky and a host of other schools. He only took official visits to California and Duke.

A five-star prospect, Swanigan is ranked No. 11 overall and as Scout's No. 6 center prospect.

"I think the best thing about him is he doesn't project as a one and done type guy," Scout analyst Josh Gershon said about Swanigan. "Michigan State is going to get a player that can be a force inside for a couple of years. He'll immediately be one of the best post players in the Big Ten.

"With his combination of size, hands, feet, soft touch, skill, motor and toughness, the Spartans will have a really productive post player for multiple years," he added.

With the addition of Swanigan, Michigan State now has a top 10 recruiting class. He joins four-star prospects Deyonta Davis, Matt McQuaid and Kyle Ahrens.
