adidas Gauntlet: Bailey starting from scratch

DUNCANVILLE, Tex. - Brendan Bailey cemented his status as one of the top 2016 prospects on the West Coast this weekend at the adidas Gauntlet. Where's his recruitment stand?

An early commitment to Arizona State, Brendan Bailey opened up his recruitment following the dismissal of Herb Sendek.

The 6-foot-7, 190-pound small forward from American Fork (Utah) is now back to square one.

“I’m starting everything all over,” Bailey said. “I’m fresh off my decommitment still. I’m open to all other schools. I opened my recruitment to everyone.”

San Diego State, Gonzaga and California are amongst the schools recruiting Bailey since he decommitted, with one of those three seriously pursuing him already.

“It’s mostly been San Diego State,” Bailey said. “They watched me play some games during the high school season and we stayed connected.

“I took an official visit there. I loved all the people and it’s a beautiful area. The facilities are amazing. I loved it there.”

As of Friday, Bailey had yet to speak with the new Sun Devils staff.

“I haven’t talked to the new staff yet but I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “I’m still interested. I’m going to talk to the staff and see if they’re still interested in me. I’ll start all over (with ASU).”

It’s still early into Bailey’s second recruiting process so he doesn’t have a feel for when he’ll make a decision this time around.

“It’s too early to tell,” Bailey said. “I’ll wait until the summer goes on and then make some decisions. I’m in no rush.”
