Cards have major interest in Duval

Five-star guard Trevon Duval has the attention of Rick Pitino and his staff.

Throughout his time as a head coach, Rick Pitino has focused a lot of his recruiting energy on the East Coast. Pitino is again targeting one of the best in the 2017 who hails from that part of the country in Trevon Duval.

With the open recruiting weekend out in full force over the weekend, Louisville sent assistant Wyking Jones to New Orleans for the Under Armour association event. One of the big reasons for that was to see point guard Trevon Duval.

Duval, who ran with We R 1, no doubt impressed Jones and the other coaches in attendance with his strong play.

“I think I have played well,” said Duval. “As a team we came out slow, but we picked it up and got three in a row. I have been working hard on my outside shot and on being a leader.”

When it comes to his recruitment, Duval says that some of the top schools on the East Coast are showing him significant attention.

Syracuse, Villanova, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Connecticut, and Louisville have all been calling a lot,” listed Duval.

In terms of Louisville, Duval says that he is very intrigued with the entire situation from the head coach to the style of play.

“Louisville is great,” said Duval.

He continued, “They run a lot and play hard on defense. They are one of the best teams in the country and have a Hall of Fame coach.”

For now Duval says that he has no specific timeframe for a decision. He wants to get as much information as he can about each school recruiting him, and then also he is focused on improving as a player.

Currently Duval is viewed as the No. 4 point guard and the No. 18 player overall in the class of 2017.
