Gators are heavily involved with Huell

Florida is making five-star Dewan Huell a major priority recruit in the 2016 class.

The Florida Gators have worked hard to be one of the major recruiting forces in the country. That begins with controlling the borders of the state of Florida and landing top recruits. One of the several top in-state prospects they are after in 2016 is Dewan Huell.

Led by Huell, Team Breakdown is one of the better teams on the Under Armour circuit. Huell proved himself all weekend averaging 13.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.

“I’ve been working on everything to get better,” said Huell. “I have been working hard on my offense. I think overall I have been playing pretty well recently. I have just tried to improve and get more consistent.”

On the recruiting trail the Gators made sure to track Huell a lot this weekend, but they will have stiff competition for the five-star prospect.

“I have been talking a lot to Florida, Florida State, Miami, South Carolina, and South Florida,” noted Huell.

While Huell says he is just in the beginning stages of learning about all of the schools on the list, he does have great respect for Florida Head Coach Billy Donovan and what he has accomplished in his time in Gainesville.

“Billy Donovan is a great coach and Florida has a great program,” said Huell. “I don’t know a ton about them, but they always seem to win and Coach Donovan is a Hall of Fame caliber coach.”

With Donovan and his staff showing Huell significant attention, the chase is on. However do not expect any kind of quick decision from Huell.

“I am looking for a team that always plays hard, but I am not too focused on that right now,” said Huell. “I just want to keep getting better and get more information on each school.”

Currently Huell is considered the No. 4 power forward and the No. 22 player overall in the 2016 class.
