Major interest in Hester

Combo guard Eric Hester continues to add major interest on the recruiting trail.

Three-star combo guard Eric Hester has been on the national radar for a while now, and during the Under Armour Association event in New Orleans he showed why. Hester had a solid weekend, and coaches were tracking him closely.

The 6-foot-3 Hester is known for his ability to score the ball from deep, but now he is working to refine his game.

“I have been working on my ball handling and being quicker going to the rim,” noted Hester. “That has been my main focus.”

Recruiting wise numerous schools were tracking Hester this weekend, and he continues to hear from a wide variety of programs.

South Florida, Florida, Texas A&M, Florida State, Creighton, Tulsa, Virginia Tech, and a few other schools,” said Hester.

South Florida boss Orlando Antigua was one who really showed interest in Hester, and Hester says he likes the direction that the Bulls are headed.

“I have a good relationship with USF,” said Hester. “They have good coaches and are building a good program. They didn’t have a good season this year, but with the guys they have coming in and the culture they are building, they should be much better next year.”

Also the Florida Gators made sure to have a presence tracking Hester and his teammates, and Hester says he is building a solid relationship the coaching staff in Gainesville.

“Things are pretty good with Florida,” said Hester. “I have talked to the assistants a lot, and they have been down to see me a few times.”

For now Hester is in no rush to make a decision, and wants to evaluate all of his options thoroughly before coming to a decision.
