Northwestern snags top rated in-state recruit

While at Duke, Chris Collins built a reputation as a good recruiter. On Saturday, he picked up his highest rated recruit since he's been at Northwestern.

Chris Collins reeled in a significant recruit on Saturday.

Rapolas Ivanauskas, a junior at Barrington (Ill.) High, gave a verbal pledge to Northwestern, according to sources close to the situation. Ivanauskas also entertained serious interest from Virginia, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana.

“Northwestern is a great academic school,” Ivanausksas told Scout's Brian Snow a few weeks ago. “I feel it is the best education you can get, and that is very essential to me. The coaches there are all great, and I have great relationships with all of them, especially Coach (Chris) Collins.”

Ivanauskas is Scout's No. 54 rated prospect in the 2016 recruiting class and is ranked No. 10 at the power forward. Snow has evaluated Ivanauskas multiple times and his skill set is among the things that standout.

"He's a skilled four man with athleticism," Snow said of his game. "He can really get to the rim, plus he plays hard, rebounds and is versatile on defense. He's also a solid shooter."

Ivanauskas, who is top rated prospect in the 2016 class in Illinois, is Collins' first pledge in the 2016 recruiting class.
