Top 100 player picks Georgia State
D'Marcus Simonds, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard out of Buford (Ga.) High, informed Scout that he intends to play his college basketball at Georgia State. A top 100 prospect, Simonds made the commitment call late Wednesday night. “I love the campus,” he told Scout. “It's close to home. They are going to run the conference and the coaches are doing everything the right way.” Simonds, a 2016 recruit, originally committed to Rick Ray at Mississippi State, but when he was let go he opened his recruitment back up. “I had other offers but I knew where I was going,” Simonds said minutes after making his pledge. Since reopening his recruitment Georgia State assistant Claude Pardue pursued him aggressively and his style meshed with Simonds. “He’s a cool dude man,” Simonds said. “I felt close to him from the get go. He shot everything straight.” A four-star shooting guard, Simonds ranks No. 80 overall in the 2016 recruiting class.
