Major interest in Tillman
Forward Xavier Tillman is one of the more intimidating players in the class of 2017. The Grand Rapids (Mich.) Forest Hills Central forward is around 6-foot-7 and 235 pounds already, and has decent skill to go with his impressive physique. This is a big spring and summer for Tillman as he is out to show everyone that he is more than a kid who is just physically mature. Instead he is trying to show growth in every aspect of his game. “I am trying to show people that I can play more under control, that I am more athletic, and that I can finish in traffic better than before,” explained Tillman. He continued, “I’m not really a dominant post player or a dominant outside threat, but I am someone who can do a little bit of everything.” Recruiting wise a long list of schools continues to show significant interest in Tillman. “I am hearing a lot from Michigan State, Michigan, Villanova might offer soon, Louisville, Kentucky, Duke, and NC State,” said Tillman. “Those are the main schools I’m hearing from.” Michigan State is a school that has been after Tillman for a while and has offered him a scholarship. About the Spartans, Tillman said, “I really like Tom Izzo. We just kind of have a bond. I like his coaching style and he has great character. He picks his players on character over talent, and that is something I like.” For now though Tillman is focused on getting better and gaining as much information as he can about the schools recruiting him. There is no timetable for a decision from Tillman.
