Major interest in Tillman

Xavier Tillman keeps working to expand his game as college coaches take note.

Forward Xavier Tillman is one of the more intimidating players in the class of 2017. The Grand Rapids (Mich.) Forest Hills Central forward is around 6-foot-7 and 235 pounds already, and has decent skill to go with his impressive physique.

This is a big spring and summer for Tillman as he is out to show everyone that he is more than a kid who is just physically mature. Instead he is trying to show growth in every aspect of his game.

“I am trying to show people that I can play more under control, that I am more athletic, and that I can finish in traffic better than before,” explained Tillman.

He continued, “I’m not really a dominant post player or a dominant outside threat, but I am someone who can do a little bit of everything.”

Recruiting wise a long list of schools continues to show significant interest in Tillman.

“I am hearing a lot from Michigan State, Michigan, Villanova might offer soon, Louisville, Kentucky, Duke, and NC State,” said Tillman. “Those are the main schools I’m hearing from.”

Michigan State is a school that has been after Tillman for a while and has offered him a scholarship.

About the Spartans, Tillman said, “I really like Tom Izzo. We just kind of have a bond. I like his coaching style and he has great character. He picks his players on character over talent, and that is something I like.”

For now though Tillman is focused on getting better and gaining as much information as he can about the schools recruiting him. There is no timetable for a decision from Tillman.
