Oregon is after another Young
The Oregon Ducks were led by star Joseph Young for the past two years, and now another Young is emerging from Houston (Tex.) Yates High school. This time it is Young’s younger brother Jacob Young. While Jacob isn’t quite as tall as Joseph, standing around 6-feet, he does have that same ability to score, and now is working on his all-around game. “I am just trying to work hard, show people what I can do, and just get recruited real hard so that I can play on a big stage,” said Young. He continued, “I have been working on my ball handling skills and also my leadership. I think those are two real important areas for a point guard.” Recruiting wise a handful of schools are already after Young, and more are sure to call and inquire about him. “I am hearing from Oregon, Baylor, Duquesne, Maryland, Cal Poly, Rice, and Arkansas,” said Young. “I have offers from Baylor and Duquesne.” Oregon has an obvious connection with Young through his brother, and he says it is great to hear from the Ducks. “They have been saying that they want to let their guards play on the outside and then pass it in to the big man,” said Young. “They think I would be a good fit with what they do, and my brother playing there and having so much success is a good thing.” According to Jacob, his older brother is giving him advice on how to be ready for college basketball. “He told me it is way harder to score and a lot tougher than high school basketball, so I know I have to continue to improve,” said Young. Look for Young to be someone who makes a run at being ranked and potential four-star status the next time that the rankings are updated.
