Tennessee gets late addition

Three-star guard Lamonte Turner will make his home on Rocky Top.

For a while it looked like Lamonte Turner was going to be a member of the 2016 class, but recently that changed and he went ahead and made himself available in the 2015 class. With that several high-major schools came calling and Turner chose Tennessee.

At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Turner is someone who has been on the radar for a while. He is a good athlete and a capable scorer. At times he has played on the ball as a point guard, but in the end he is likely to play on the wing.

With his combination of scoring and athleticism, Turner pulled in major interest from Tennessee, Auburn, Florida State, and South Carolina, but ultimately it was the Volunteers that won out.

“I am officially committing to the University of Tennessee,” Turner announced.

This is a solid late addition for Rick Barnes and his staff. Turner is a very solid three-star prospect who can bring some versatility to the backcourt, and give energy and athleticism on the defensive end.

By committing Turner joins holdovers from the Donnie Tyndall recruiting class in Admiral Schofield and Shembari Phillips in Tennessee’s class.
