Childs adds offers
One of the more productive 2016 posts on the West Coast is 6-foot-7, 220-pound Yoeli Childs from South Jordan (Utah) Bingham. Childs is a physical presence in the paint who is undersized but plays very hard and has good footwork and an increasing skill level. College coaches have been impressed with the way Childs has played this spring, which has led to an increase in scholarship offers. "He picked up an Arizona State offer as well as Boise State and Wyoming offers," said Childs' AAU coach with the Utah Prospects, Tim Davis. "He had Utah State before that. Colorado, Oregon State and Texas A&M have reached out as well." Childs had an offer from the previous ASU staff but the new coaches re-affirmed the Sun Devils' offer. "I've known Brian Merritt for seven years and he loves Yoeli," said Davis. "He knows how fearless he is and that he's always going to get rebounds." While ASU is reentering the mix for Childs, there are several other schools involved. "He likes the Boise State staff; he's very comfortable with them," Davis said. "Wyoming saw him in Dallas and said they want him. He likes that coaching staff too. Utah State has been recruiting him the longest; he likes that staff." Before Childs makes a decision, the plan is for him to take some visits. "I think he'll narrow his list soon to figure out where he wants to go on officials to," said Davis. "He'll start taking them in June, take a couple more in August and then make a decision. I think he wants to make a decision early so he can enjoy his senior year."
