Ward comes off the board to MSU
Sometimes it pays to be the first one to come to the party, and that is exactly what Michigan State was with Nick Ward. The Gahanna (Ohio) Lincoln product got his first offer from Michigan State, and now he is a Spartan. "I just think I fit in real well with the coaching staff and I think my style of play fits how they play," said Ward about his commitment to Michigan State. He continued, "They say that they will use me both under the basket and away from the basket. I am at my best scoring around the rim and I feel I can excel at Michigan State." During the course of the process Ward picked up offers from Purdue, Ohio State, Indiana, Illinois, Xavier, Cincinnati, and a host of other programs, but all along the Spartans seemed like the leader. The 6-foot-8 Ward has brought his game to even another level recently this spring. Ward has dominated the EYBL with All-Ohio Red posting routine double-doubles, and looks in the best shape of his life. Now Ward will bring his impressive style of play to East Lansing, and coming off of an impressive 2015 recruiting class, Ward has high expectations. "Quite honestly I expect to win a national title," said Ward. "That is why I am going there. I want to win a national title, go to the Final Four, and win the Big Ten Championship." This is the first commitment for Michigan State in the class of 2016, and make no mistake Ward was a high priority recruit for the Spartans.
