Davis keeps adding offers

Four-star De'Ron Davis keeps adding to his offer total.

Four-star skilled center De'Ron Davis was impressive this past weekend at the adidas Gauntlet event in Indianapolis. The Aurora (Col.) Overland product is running with the Colorado Hawks and continues to attract the interest of numerous coaches.

“The spring is going pretty good,” said Davis. “We have been sloppy at times, but overall we have been really good as a team and individually I think I am playing well.”

He continued, “I am working on being aggressive. Last year I took a back seat to some people, so I am just trying to be more aggressive this year.”

When it comes to his recruitment, a strong list of schools are still involved with Davis.

Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Arkansas, Indiana, and then VCU just offered,” said Davis. “I would say those are the main ones right now.”

The recent offer from Shaka Smart was a big one for Davis who is intrigued by the Longhorns.

“It is a blessing to know Texas offered me,” said Davis. “It was great to hear from them, and I am looking forward to getting to know the coaches better.”

Davis continued about Texas, “I know Texas has a great program and that Coach Smart has won a lot in his career.”

Indiana is one of the schools that has been on Davis the longest, but recently main recruiter Steve McClain left to take a position at Illinois-Chicago. With that Davis says he is working to build a strong relationship with the rest of the staff.

“I am building a relationship with the other coaches,” said Davis. “They are still one of my top schools, but I am trying to build that relationship with them again, and Indiana is a great school.”

When it comes to the in-state Colorado Buffalos, Davis said, “Colorado is home. That is always going to be a good option. I like their coaches a lot, and the program is one that is on the rise.”

For now Davis is taking a methodical approach to his recruitment, but says he has an idea of what will be important to him when he looks for a school.

“I am not looking so much at location, for me it is about development and the connection that I have with the coaching staff,” explained Davis.
