Baxter commits to USF
In the end, Troy Baxter, a 6-foot-7 forward out of Gainesville (Fla.) The Rock School, wanted to stay close to home. So on Friday, Baxter pulled the trigger for South Florida, according to AAU coach Jordan Fair. "I believe the relationship he has built with those guys and the confidence they show in him as a player," Fair told Scout. Baxter picked USF over scholarship offers from Arkansas, UConn, Kansas State, Temple and Texas Tech. "Troy has blossomed this spring and has played on a very high level," Fair told Scout. "His potential and ceiling is higher than most around the country. I think he will help USF build something special in the near future." A terrific all around athlete, Baxter impressed on the spring circuit with his ability to get up and down the floor, sky for rebounds and throw down monstrous slams in the paint.
