Simpson talks visit, recruitment

Xavier Simpson made a recent unofficial visit, and continues to add offers.

Four-star point guard Xavier Simpson is one of the top floor generals in the class of 2016. The Lima (Ohio) Senior standout is running with King James in the Nike EYBL this summer, and so far he is off to a good start.

“I think I have been playing alright,” said the 5-foot-11 Simpson. “I feel like I have some things I need to touch up on, but I have been working hard to make my weaknesses better and to become a more complete player.”

Recruiting wise Simpson has offers from Xavier, Butler, Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern, Iowa, and Iowa State.

The first school to offer was Xavier, and recently Simpson made another visit to the school.

“I like Xavier and I have high interest in Xavier,” said Simpson. “They showed me the campus which I love. They brought me down to show me the campus and just talked about how I would fit in the program and the school.”

He continued about his relationship with the coaches, “. They have been recruiting me for a while and have shown me a lot of loyalty. They have supported me from the beginning and I have real high interest.”

Also recently the Butler Bulldogs came forward with an offer, and Simpson is looking forward to learning more about the school.

“It was great to be offered by Butler,” said Simpson. “It made me proud. I don’t know much about Butler, but I am talking to their coaches more and hopefully we can build a good relationship.”

Also an offer was recently extended by Purdue, and Simpson says he has a good relationship with the staff in West Lafayette.

“They have been recruiting me for a pretty long time,” said Simpson of Purdue. “They came in early in the school year for workouts and open gyms. I have a good connection with Coach (Greg) Gary and Coach (Matt) Painter has been talking to me as well.”

When asked where he stands in the recruiting process, Simpson simply said, “I am just trying to find the right fit.”
