King emerges at Run N Slam
Last year it was Wisconsin Playground Warriors product Brevin Pritzl that saw his stock explode at the Spiece Run N Slam. This year it was a player from the same AAU organization that had the same experience. Class of 2017 shooting guard Kobe King was spectacular all weekend long, and will be one of the top recruits in his class. At around 6-foot-3 and 170 pounds, King is someone with solid size and is a tremendous shooter. Add in that he has a great understanding of the game, and the spring is going extremely well for him on the court. “The spring has been going good,” said King. “Our team is playing really well. Individually I have come a long way since last year. I have been working on my shot off the dribble. A lot of teams to try really take away my shot off he catch, so I have been working hard to attack better off the dribble.” Recruiting wise things have been picking up recently for King who should only see more offers come in. “My offers right now are Portland, Green Bay, IUPUI, and Iowa State,” said King. “I have Wisconsin, Marquette, UNI, Drake all coming at me hard.” Iowa State has really poached the state of Wisconsin hard in the past, and getting the offer from the Cyclones was big for King. “It was good to get the offer,” said King. “They have been one of my favorite schools growing up. Also they have kids from our local area going there, so it was pretty cool to get that offer.” Hearing from the Badgers is also big for King. “It is good to hear from them,” explained King. “Obviously they made it to the national championship this year. It is just great to be recruited by these big time schools, and it means a lot being from the state of Wisconsin.” At this point King is just at the beginning of his recruitment. Instead of focusing on that, he says the focus is on finishing the season strong with his AAU team. “I just want to win everything,” said King. “We just don’t want to lose. We are a really good team and I feel like we can beat any team in the country.”
