Alexander commits to Tennessee
For new head coaches, searching for a big man this late in the game is a tough task. On Thursday, Rick Barnes reeled in one of the best available in 6-foot-9 big man Kyle Alexander. A source close to the situation confirmed the news to Scout. Alexander, who played his senior season at Orangeville Prep in Canada, entertained a wide range of interest, but his choice ultimately came down to New Mexico and the Volunteers. At his size, Alexander is mobile and runs the floor end-to-end with ease. Alexander is a good athlete that can impact the game with his ability to get to shots. He also has a good set of hands. This is Barnes' third commitment in the past week. Last week Tennessee picked up pledges from three-star prospects Lamonte Turner and Ray Kasongo. UT also holds commitments from Shembari Phillips and Admiral Schofield. Alexander is regarded as at three-star recruit.
