Cumberland talks recruiting

Wing Jarron Cumberland has proven himself to be one of the top scorers in the Midwest, and coaches are paying close attention.

Four-star Wilmington (Ohio) wing Jarron Cumberland has had a tremendous spring. Now running with King James in the Nike EYBL, Cumberland is putting up huge scoring numbers and continues to see increased attention on the recruiting trail.

“I think I am playing very well,” said Cumberland of the spring. “On this team I know I need to bring it every game, and just play as hard as I can.”

He continued, “I have been working on my ball handling and my mid-range game the most.”

Recruiting wise the list of schools continues to get longer for Cumberland as he is proving just how proficient he can be shooting the basketball.

Michigan came to watch and wants me to visit, Purdue, Butler, Xavier, Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgetown, and there are a few others,” noted Cumberland.

When it comes to the Wolverines no offer is in hand yet, but there is a possibility that changes soon.

“Michigan said that they aren’t going to offer over the phone,” explained Cumberland. “They want me to come up to visit before they offer me.”

Two schools that have offered and have been recruiting Cumberland extremely hard are Butler and Purdue.

About Purdue, Cumberland said, “They are one of my top schools. I like the school a lot and the coaches. It is a nice program.”

When it comes to the Bulldogs, Cumberland said, “I like Butler’s style of play. Also it is a nice campus that I like a lot. It is a little bit smaller campus, and I just like the coaches.”

At this point Cumberland wants to gather as much information as possible about the perspective schools before coming to a decision.
