California's Sears holds two offers

Ernie Sears, one of the west's top wings in 2017, has a couple early scholarship offers along with some high majors interest.

One of the better wings on the West Coast in 2017 is 6-foot-4, 165-pound Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany small forward Ernie Sears.

The long and athletic wing is a versatile defender who can guard multiple positions, has a high basketball IQ and a competent scorer from midrange and in.

"I had a productive season," Sears said. "I worked hard in practice and just listened to my coach. My strengths are my energy, focus, commitment on defense and on offense I’m very aggressive."

Sears holds early offers from New Mexico State and Grand Canyon, while he's also hearing from California and Arizona.

"My dad went to Cal and they’re a good school. I’m looking into them," Sears said. "Arizona went to the Elite Eight and won the Pac-12. They’re a great school."

In a perfect world, Sears will hear from the defending national champions.

"I would love to play for K (Mike Krzyzewski)," he said.

Even though he has some early attention, Sears is more focused on his game than recruitment right now.

"I want to keep getting better and get invited to more camps," Sears said.
