Former ASU pledge Siewert reopens recruitment

Lucas Siewert has decommitted from Arizona State, putting a 2016 post that can really shoot back on the market.

One of the best shooting centers in the 2016 class, Los Angeles Cathedral's Lucas Siewert has reopened his recruitment.

The 6-foot-9, 220-pound post was previously committed to Arizona State under former head coach Herb Sendek but on Monday reversed course, his head coach at Cathedral, William Middlebrooks, told Scout.

"He just wanted to make sure he gets into a situation that will take advantage of his stretch four capabilities moving forward," Middlebrooks said.

Siewert's camp has been in touch with new ASU coach Bobby Hurley and the Sun Devils will remain in the picture, should they want to be.

"We let Hurley settle in and see what he wants to do and he wants to play up and down run and gun," said Middlebrooks. "They're still in the mix but there are some other schools that recruited him which we know what they do already.

"It's been all positive (with ASU). He's still considering them. They know we're reopening it. It's all positive and we'll see how it shakes out."

So far, Middlebrooks has been in touch with five different schools about the rising senior.

"Creighton, Vanderbilt, Colorado, California, Washington State are all schools which were in the mix previously," he said. "I've talked to all of them today and they're still interested."
