Fultz talks visits

Things are really ramping up on the recruiting trail for Markelle Fultz who talks about his recent visits, and what is coming up next.

Four-star guard Markelle Fultz has been one of the hottest commodities on the recruiting trail all spring long. The DC Blue Devils product has been picking up many big time offers, and recently made some unofficial visits with one official visit coming up.

Over the weekend the 6-foot-4 Fultz had a chance to visit both Kentucky and Louisville in an unofficial capacity. According to Fultz both visits went well.

“It was a great experience,” said Fultz of UK. “I was looking forward to going up there and meeting Coach Cal and talking to Coach (Kenny) Payne. It was a good experience to sit down with them and talk, and to see the school and everything. I had a good time.”

On the visit the Wildcats did not offer, but they did make it clear that they are very high on him.

“They didn’t offer me yet, but they said they really liked me and that I just need to keep working hard,” Fultz explained. “I don’t know much about what they plan to do, but they tell me they want me.”

Fultz also had the opportunity to visit Louisville, and that trip went very well.

“I already had an offer from Louisville and this was my second visit,” said Fultz. “This time I got to meet Coach (Rick) Pitino, and we sat down and talked. He just told me about his journey, and how he loves coaching, and that is all he does. It was nice to meet him.”

He continued about Louisville, “Their facilities are great. They are top of the line in everything. The game arena is very nice and it was a great experience to see what Louisville had to offer.”

Also during April Fultz had a chance to make another unofficial visit to Xavier, his third, and had a good time.

“I have a really good relationship with Coach Mike Pegues and Coach (Chris) Mack,” said Fultz. “I went up there to just hang out with them and to see everything again. I just have a great relationship with those guys, so I wanted to chat it up with them since I was close by.”

Fultz continued, “It is a blessing that they have stayed with me for so long. They have showed character recruiting me since the beginning, and it is a blessing to have them this interested in me and to have a good relationship with them like I do.”

Up next for Fultz is a visit to Arizona June 8-9. This will be his first time in Tucson, and he is looking forward to the trip.

“That will be my first official visit,” said Fultz of the visit. “I am looking forward to going out there and seeing what they have to offer. I want to sit down with the coaches face to face and see what the coaches are like.”

He continued, “I have been building a good relationship with Coach Book (Richardson) and Coach Sean Miller, so that has been good. Now I need to see the school and the campus and just sit down and really get to know them.”

While Fultz has never been one to want to drag his recruitment out for a long time, he also says there is no specific time frame for him to make a commitment.

“Right now I am just trying to figure out all of my official visits,” Fultz explained. “I really don’t have a deadline yet for my decision. I am still looking at all of the schools and just focused on getting my five official visits set up.”
