Long list of schools for Carr

Point guard Tony Carr has had an impressive spring and his school list keeps getting longer.

Point guard Tony Carr has been one of the driving forces for Team Final this spring on the AAU circuit. The athletically gifted Carr has really improved in the last year, and now his list of schools is a long one.

“Things are going good,” said Carr of the spring. “We did a good job to qualify for Peach Jam. Personally I think I am playing well. Of course there are aspects of my game I have to improve on, but overall I feel I played pretty well.”

He continued, “I am working to improve on defense and always stay in a stance. Also my focus has been to always get lift on my jump shot and get more consistent as a shooter.”

When it comes to his recruitment, things only continue to get more crowded for Carr.

“Recruiting wise it has been really good,” said Carr. “Mainly Indiana, Maryland, Kansas State, SMU, Georgetown, Temple, Xavier, Illinois, and a couple of other schools.”

The Indiana Hoosiers are making sure to make Carr feel appreciated, and he likes the opportunity he would have at the school.

“They are a great program with a great tradition,” said Carr of Indiana. “Coach (Tom) Crean says I have a great opportunity to come in and play the point guard role and help them win a championship and make a name for myself.”

Already Maryland has the commitment of four-star Anthony Cowan, but Carr says that is only a plus in his recruitment.

“I think I could fit well,” said Carr of Maryland. “I am used to playing with another point guard, so I think it is great to play with a guy like Anthony Cowan.”

He continued about the Terps, “Maryland might be pre-season No. 1, so hearing from them is obviously great.”

At this point Carr has no visits set up, though he did say he hoped to make some trips during the month of June with there being no AAU.

For now Carr is in no hurry to make a choice. He does however know what he will be looking for in a school when the time comes.

“I am looking for a place with great academics as well as basketball,” noted Carr. “My family and I are just looking for the right place and where I fit in the best.”
