Cook talks finalists

Four-star Tyler Cook has a short list of schools, and is working on an upcoming visit.

Recently four-star power forward Tyler Cook narrowed his list of schools down to six. The athletic Cook has had a strong spring with the St. Louis Eagles on the AAU circuit, and has a plan in place for his recruitment.

“I have been trying to be more versatile,” said Cook of his spring. “I am taking more mid-range shots and trying to get my production up, and continue to rebound better.”

Recruiting wise Cook has a final list of Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Iowa State, Missouri, and Virginia.

Florida has a new coaching staff in place headed by Mike White, and Cook says he is working to build a strong relationship with them.

“I’ve been talking to the new coaching staff a lot and trying to get a feel for them,” said Cook. “It is kind of like starting over. Hopefully we continue to build a good relationship with them, and I can get down there for a visit soon.”

Missouri is a school that has been recruiting Cook for a long time, and he says the relationship with them is strong.

“It is a great relationship,” explained Cook. “I have known them for a long time, and they have shown a lot of interest in me. I am really close with their entire coaching staff. It will be pretty fun to get to know them more and to get there for another visit soon.”

When it comes to Arkansas, Cook said, “Coach (Mike) Anderson is a really genuine guy, and the same with Coach (Melvin) Watkins. They have told me how I am going to play and they could help me develop my game.”

Asked about any potential visits, Cook said, “I believe I am going to Arkansas the second week in June.”

There is no definite timetable for a decision from Cook, but he does know what he will be looking for in a school when the time comes to make a choice.

“My relationship with the coaches is the most important thing,” noted Cook. “After that it is the style of play, and the guys they have coming and who are still there.”
